Heartland Polymers Appoints New VP of Operations

Meet our head of operations to find out about how she is committed to delivering ‘better’ every day

Our commitment to ‘Believing in Better’ isn’t just about producing high-quality polypropylene – it’s also about employing top talent who live by our ‘better’ motto every day.

Heartland Polymers is pleased to announce the appointment of Kimberly Benedict as Vice President, Heartland Operations at our Heartland Petrochemical Complex (HPC).

Kimberly joined Heartland Polymers’ parent company, Inter Pipeline, in 2019, and has been with Heartland from the ground up. With a degree in chemical engineering, Kimberly brings her more than 20 years of experience in petrochemicals and refining to the role. She most recently held the role of Director, Heartland PDH Operations, leading the team through the successful startup of the Propane Dehydrogenation (PDH) unit and overseeing PDH operations for two and a half years, building the groundwork for today’s stable production of polymer grade propylene, an integral first step in making our polypropylene. HPC is the only single-site, integrated PDH/PP facility in North America, giving Heartland its competitive edge to deliver increased efficiency and reliability across its operations.

“Kimberly’s strong technical and people leadership skills make her a natural fit for the role,” says Todd Karran, CEO, Petrochemicals. “Her longstanding commitment to strong culture and operational excellence as well as her knowledge of the plant and our business helps positions our Heartland Operations for continued success under her leadership.”

With Heartland Polymers entering its third year of production, Kimberly is looking forward to continuing to support the production of high-quality resins that meets the needs of Heartland’s customers for today and tomorrow.

“There’s already a lot to be proud of at Heartland, but our commitment to better is about where we’re going and always striving to provide customers with a more reliable, sustainable and consistent product,” says Kimberly. “I’ve been proud to play a part in Heartland’s journey to date, and I will bring everything I have to this new role.”

When Kimberly isn’t at work, she can be found sharing her love of music with her husband and three kids, embracing her passion for yoga and cheering on her favourite hockey team, the Edmonton Oilers.
